Software Engineer - Video Games

Hours: 8.45am to 5.15pm, Monday to Friday


 

SG Gaming designs and develops leading gaming content in a creative and dynamic work environment, constantly striving to deliver new and exciting content to our consumers.

We are currently looking for a number of video game developers and software engineers at all levels to strengthen our teams in Manchester and Wolverhampton. Developing the company’s in-house graphics engine, you will be working with 3rd party APIs to produce games for a number of PC based platforms, running embedded windows XP/7.


Based across Manchester and Wolverhampton, our Content Development team has over seventy highly skilled development staff designing and developing game content for UK and International markets. We are always searching for talented and creative individuals to join our team of game designers, software developers and graphic designers to deliver new and exciting products. Our team members are given the opportunity to design and develop games across a number of gaming sectors, as well as working with cutting-edge technology such as multi-touch screens, HD graphics and the latest software and graphics packages. Furthermore, you will be part of a team that is not only experienced but willing to share its knowledge with you.

We expect all of our developers to demonstrate a high level of technical competence, coupled with a good grounding in software development. They are required to be flexible, and capable of adapting to change whilst being an integral part of the team, taking pride in not only their own work, but of the team’s output as a whole. A professional approach to deadlines is another key component of our success, and must be adopted by all members of the team. In addition to a genuine interest in gaming, an in depth knowledge of 2D/3D video games programming and creative flair are major pre-requisites of the position.

In addition to this, you should also have:

  • Good level of education, equivalent to at least degree level in a relevant subject such as maths or Computer Science.
  • Reasonable professional experience in the games/gaming industry.
  • Strong C/C++ in an object oriented environment.
  • Direct X / Open GL.
  • 3D/2D commercial game development experience.
  • Embedded Windows development.
  • Knowledge of gaming techniques including Physics, animation and audio.
  • Good understanding of statistical math.
  • Knowledge of Gambling industry advantageous (not essential).
