Network Engineer

Department / Function: Technology ~ Network Operations Centre

Location: France


Working within the IT Infrastructure team and closely with other business units you will be a strong communicator and quickly understand the needs of the business to ensure the infrastructure is underpinned with the best technologies and processes. The role will be a balance between project and business as usual (BAU) work. There is a significant number of ongoing integration projects as part of a series of acquisitions and mergers.

Ideally the successful would be based in and around our France office in Nice however we would also consider candidates who could work from our offices in Spain, Malta and Greece.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible to maintain all aspects of the organisation's global network systems including software, hardware and respective provider services.
  • Administer and maintain a wide variety of network devices for LAN/WAN, wireless, and telecommunications
  • Analyse and troubleshoot network problems and recommend upgrades and changes.
  • Work with IT Management to assess the organisation's current and future network needs.
  • Perform network monitoring, resolve incidents and changes.
  • Rely on extensive experience working in global organisations.
  • Exercise sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Work on and lead projects as business requirements evolve
  • Administration of Windows and Linux server platforms
  • Develop scripts or tools for automating administrative tasks.
  • Provide weekly status reports of work-related activities.
  • Interact with users as a second level of escalation to the service desk
  • Identify procedures that can be enhanced for increase efficiency.
  • Handle incidents and support requests via JIRA and/or as assigned by department manager.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Qualifications & Education:

University degree preferred or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.

Required Experience:

  • Experience in a similar technical position
  • Experience in IT projects related to large company acquisitions/mergers would be desirable
  • CCNA required - CCNP desirable
  • Ability to work in high pressure situations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of the TCP/IP protocol stack
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting with OSPF, EIGRP & BGP Routing Protocols managing redistribution and filtering in overlapping large enterprise IPv4 networks.
  • Solid understanding of IP subnetting, VLANs, FHRP and STP concepts
  • Experience with Cisco Networking equipment in an enterprise environment.
  • Cisco ASA/Firepower, FortiGate Firewalls
  • Understanding of QoS Design and Implementation
  • Network Security including Next Generation Firewalling, Web Application Firewalling, IDS/IPS, etc.
  • Experience with Cloud providers e.g. Azure/AWS Experience and knowledge of Multi Region & Multi-Tenant Topologies
  • In depth knowledge of VPN technologies IKEv1, IKEv2, IPsec, GRE, SSL and DMVPN and remote access technologies such as OpenVPN and Cisco AnyConnect
  • Experience configuring and supporting Cisco Wireless Network Platforms (Cisco WLC & Meraki)
  • Experience with SNMP-based network monitoring platforms (e.g. Solarwinds Orion NPM, Cacti, Nagios, Zabbix)
  • DNS, DHCP, NTP, RADIUS and IPAM deployment and administration
  • Technical writing discipline
  • Project management methodologies and techniques
  • High level understanding of Video Conferencing Architectures and Codec’s
  • Understanding / experience with hybrid VC systems from major vendors – Cisco, Polycom
  • Understanding of TDM and IP Trunk side phone system technologies – PRI’s, SIP Trunks, etc.
  • Deep understanding of IP Telephony Systems / Technology and integration with networks
  • Familiarity with IP Phone system from some of major vendors – Cisco, Avaya, ShoreTel, Nortel
  • Windows and Linux administration skills
