Director of Purchasing

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Director of Purchasing to join SG Gaming, one of the leading global players in the UK gaming market.

Based out of our Chadderton office, the successful applicant will be responsible for the ongoing development and management of the purchasing strategy, ensuring it remains aligned to the overall business goals.  They will pro-actively manage optimal supplier performance and price through effective supplier relationships and negotiations and manage the Purchasing Team to deliver appropriate support to the business ensuring corporate strategies are met. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage effective relationships and negotiations with key suppliers at a senior and strategic level
  • Negotiate contract terms with key suppliers to ensure value for money, quality standards and delivery terms
  • Develop and execute negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
  • Develop a supplier relationship and evaluation process to measure effective supplier performance and compliance
  • Prepare the annual purchasing budget and manage annual  forecasts in line with the financial year
  • Forecast market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
  • Provide leadership to the purchasing team including coaching, mentoring, day to day guidance
  • Conduct regular performance reviews for the Purchasing Team, ensuring targets and KPI’s are set to meet the business goals

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent NVQ Level 7 qualification 
  • Demonstrable experience of leading a purchasing function with a proven track record in strategic purchasing leadership delivering effective purchasing strategies, policies, processes and systems
  • Demonstrated ability  to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements
  • Proven contract management and supplier experience
  • Experience of successfully operating and influencing at a strategic level
  • Computer literate, especially Excel skills
  • Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development
  • Preferably a Fellow or Member of The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS)
